We all like our houses, business, offices etc to reflect the brightness and smell of spring.
How about with start with our carpets and preparing them for a great spring clean, it’s easy just follow these simple steps!
Let’s start with vacuuming, this will help to maintain your carpet also.
Carpets should be vacuumed at least once a week, more often in areas of heavy traffic. The more frequent you vacuum, this will help to prolong the life of your carpet simply by preventing a buildup of gritty particles that can cut carpet fibres. Every few weeks, take a little extra time and use your crevice tool for cleaning around skirting, furniture and those hard-to-reach places.
♦ A simple way to vacuum wall-to-wall carpeting is to divide the floor into quadrants, vacuum an entire quadrant before moving on to the next.
♦ Always take your time to vacuum the carpet, especially a plush carpet in which dirt is sure to be deeply embedded. A once over with a vacuum is not enough. Go over each section of the carpet several times, always work slowly to allow the suction to remove all the ground-in dust and dirt.
♦ Always pay special attention to the areas where people sit and move their feet. Always vacuum these areas with a crisscross pattern of overlapping strokes.
♦ Soil retardants maybe applied to new carpets or newly cleaned carpets. Always follow manufacturers’ advice though. Apply soil retardants only with correct professional equipment using the recommended application techniques.
♦ You can also add baking soda to the bag in your vacuum to fight odours.
Odors are one thing!! Spots, Spills and stains are another. Spots and spills can happen to just about every carpet and can be fairly stubborn to remove. Tune into our next BLOG for tips on how to help rid your carpet of those marks.
